Matt Denny, Owner/Producer/Engineer

Matt found his love of the recording process when he was 16 and bought a 4-track recorder. In 1994, Matt began assembling a recording studio in the basement of his three flat. By 2000, the business had grown enough to justify the move to its current home.

As a part of the local Chicago music scene for over 25 years, he plays guitar, keys and sings. More importantly, Matt is dedicated to providing a comfortable accessible environment for all artists to record. Email Matt

Rob Ruccia, Chief Engineer

In Late 2001 Rob along with his band-mates of Arista Recording Artist From Zero, spent a week working out material for their new album, though he left From Zero he never left Uptown. With over 15 years experience and expert knowledge in recording technology, Rob was hired on as Chief Engineer and dubbed "The Pro Tools Wizard" by owner Matt Denny. Catherine Denny, Business Manager

Catherine has been with Uptown Recording from the beginning, when there were mic cords, intruments and musicians littering her Uptown apartment. Catherine has 15 years experience in events planning and coordination, which has been critical in managing the conception, construction and day-to-day operations of Uptown Recording. Email Catherine

Dan Stock, Engineer, Sound & Video Post-Production

Dan came to Uptown to record a project in 2001 and loved the space/gear/attitude/vibe so much he decided to stay on as an engineer. As a member of the local music scene, Dan understands the importance of a quality representation for local artists. Throughout his tenure he has spearheaded Uptown's division of in-house A/V post-production. Email Dan

Rasheed Thomas, Assistant Engineer, Creator of Beats

Rasheed joined Uptown much the same way everyone does, he came here to record, and we kept him! Some people just click, and Rasheed clicks with Uptown Recording. He is our go-to guy for assisting on any session. Rasheed also has vast experience writing beats. Email Rasheed
